Yaman (Cover by Anya Kapoor)

I have an incredible teacher named Saili Oak. In less than a month, she taught me a Raag called Yaman. The background tabla, is called Ek Taal.

This song is sung from sunset to late evening and it is one of the most important Raga's of Hindustani music. It's a Raga with the simplest structure but requires a flowing voice to get the real beauty out of it.

It is said that this Raag was crafted by the great musician and poet, Amir Khusro. This raag is supposed to provide a feeling of tranquility and contentment.
